Nic Hardy: The hiking adventure club queen

Nic Hardy, known as @adventurer.nic to her Instagram followers, led 19 friends up seven Wainwrights in the Lake District in May 2018.

It was a beautiful, sunny day. They climbed almost 4,000ft and walked nine miles with views over Buttermere and Crummock Water. In the photos from the hike they all looked like they had been friends for years.

But only a few months earlier, they had been total strangers.

But since starting the adventure club, being outdoors has become a huge part of her life.

So much so that she’s going to be thru-hiking the Te Araroa trail in New Zealand later this year.

In this episode, I find out what inspired Nic to make the changes in her life, why the outdoors has become so important to her, what challenges she’s faced and what advice she has for others who want to make their life more adventurous.
